Pursuant to the Advertising and Communication Market Results of Ukraine of 2008 and market prognosis for 2009, prepared by the All-Ukrainian Advertising Coalition, in 2008 the market of advertising and communications (AC) of Ukraine continued its development despite the world economic and financial crisis, whose manifestations significantly affected expectations and budgets of advertisers only in October-December 2008. According to the research, produced by the All-Ukrainian Advertising Coalition, the volume of Ukraine’s AC market in 2008 amounted to 11 billion and 500 million UAH, including 6 billion and 783 million UAH of media advertisement and 4 billion and 114 million UAH of non-media AC market.

Prediction for year 2009 was made by the All-Ukrainian Advertising Coalition under the conditions of far more uncertainty compared to the past years and thus the prediction should be deemed only as one of possible scenarios of advertising market development in 2009. In particular, it is expected that in 2009 the advertising market will lose around 14% of its overall volume and will amount to 10 billion UAH approximately. However, such segments of advertising market as Internet advertising and DM-advertising will probably continue their development with the increase of their volume by 20% and 10% respectively. Also, experts of the All-Ukrainian Advertising Coalition are unanimous in thinking that a competitive struggle for consumers in 2009 will be still fierce and, as a result, services of AC market specialists will be strongly sought-after.

In accordance with the calculations rendered by RACA, in 2008 the aggregate volume of Internet advertising in Russia increased by 55%, constituting 4.5 billion rubles.
